7:00 p.m.  “What’s Next For Israel And American And World Jewry?” will be Rabbi Rachlis’ topic at Shabbat services led by him and Cantor Braier.  More than 13 months after the tragedy of October 7, Israel faces the possibility of a regional war, as well as its present military engagements in Gaza and with Lebanon.

Fighting between West Bank Jewish settlers and Palestinians has escalated and world pressure continues to grow for more aid for Gaza, a ceasefire, and the return of the hostages who are suffering terribly. Israel’s most conservative government in history has divided Israelis and alienated some American Jews, and world Jewry fears anti-Semitism and terrorism from the left and the right in Europe and the United States . While American campuses are quieter than last year, Jewish students and faculty are anxiously worried about future protests.

What will a new American administration ask of Israel?  What do American Jews want?  What do University Synagogue members feel?  Join us for this crucial analysis and discussion.  For Mourner’s Kaddish, we will also remember the tragic assassination of President Kennedy on this day 61 years ago.  (For those alive at the time, everyone still remembers where they were when they heard the shocking news.)

Our Oneg Shabbat will be sponsored by the Lindenberg Family in honor of Sydney becoming Bat Mitzvah.
