7:00 p.m. Harmonia Shabbat Services led by Rabbi George Wielechowski and Cantor Ruti Braier.
Harmonia Shabbat, which Cantor Ruti debuted a few months ago, is a service of musical harmonies where the Cantor is joined by four members of our Congregation - Steven Hirsch, Valerie Jacobs, Zach Nelson and Amy Ganser- sitting informally on the Bimah, where the atmosphere is casual and inviting.
Rabbi George will speak on the topic "Growing Together: Jewish Wisdom for Environmental and Social Justice." Fresh from Tu B'Shevat, let's explore how Jewish wisdom can inform our relationship with both the natural world and each other. Drawing on ancient agricultural practices, contemporary environmental research, and modern literature, we'll examine how values like Shmirat Adamah (protecting the Earth) and Tza'ar Ba'alei Chayim (preventing suffering) guide us in addressing climate change and environmental justice. Join us as we discover how Jewish thought can help us reimagine our relationship with Earth and all its inhabitants - human and otherwise.
