Meet Rabbi George Wielechowski

 

We are pleased to welcome you to come meet Rabbi George Wielechowski, a candidate for our Interim Rabbi role.

Rabbi George Wielechowski  is a spiritual leader, entrepreneur, and served as the founding director of the Open Dor Project, a Jewish nonprofit accelerator designed to further the creation and development of new and emerging models of Jewish spiritual communities nationwide. He earned his M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and his rabbinic ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. Rabbi George has worked in the pulpit and in for/nonprofit executive leadership roles and regularly advises Jewish organizations on creating accessible, welcoming communities and the importance of regular innovation and self-disruption.  He has also served in strategic advisory roles for Reconstructing Judaism, AVODAH, and OneTable.  During his professional career, Rabbi George developed, branded, and helped manage early-stage startups in the digital content creation, web based software, interreligious education, nonprofit fintech and consumer product sectors.  An active writer, filmmaker, and media producer, Rabbi George's creative credits include contributing essays, feature films, animation, documentary, and national television series credits.  As a passionate technologist, his most recent research and development interests include efforts to lobby academic and corporate leaders to develop a shared, globally inspired, moral and ethical reasoning AI conscience model, to provide scalable oversight and contribute to the critical field of digital ethics and the urgent need for true AI alignment with human values.  

Rabbi George lives with his wife, Alison, and his two sons, Lennon and Gideon, in Cardiff by the Sea, California.
